Around 2010, the Kalashnikov Concern began looking at developing the 5th Generation AK rifle. Aimed at providing more modern features from the factory, the AK-12 comes with an adjustable collapsing/folding stock, a unified upper picatinny rail, as well as rails on the side and bottom for attachments. They also aimed to solve these issues without adding too much additional weight, as the aftermarket items tended to do. Kalashnikov Concern's endeavors led to the AK-12's adoption by the Russian Armed Forces in 2018.
The RPK-16 is a development of the AK-12 platform meant to replace the RPK-74, a weapon meant to fulfil the squad automatic rifle role. This RPK-16 comes in an assaulter's configuration, featuring a shorter barrel, as well as a polymer 2000 round drum.
LCT, as with all their replicas aims for top quality, featuring full steel construction on all the bits that would be steel on a real AK, as well as high quality plastic for the plastic bits. You wont be disappointed when you hold this piece of art in your hands!
